Switzerland, situated in the middle of Europe, is divided into four language regions, with the Swiss German-speaking part being the largest. This small country’s culture is as diverse as its languages. Furthermore, there are countless sport activities during all four seasons – hiking, swimming, surfing, horse riding, skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating – only to mention a few.
With the well-developed public transportation system, all corners of the country can be reached within a few hours – ideal for getting to know the culture, the landscape and the people.
The young generation in Switzerland enjoys a great deal of freedom but also learns responsibility at an early age. For example, all students walk to school or use public transport.
We offer guest students from all over the world the opportunity to spend a semester or a year in our country. During this time, they learn the German language as well as our culture. The participants live as new family members with a Swiss family and attend the local high school.
Our school year starts middle of August and ends beginning/middle of July. The requirements are generally very high and there are up to 14 compulsory subjects. Some schools offer free German courses for exchange students, which makes it easier to get used to school life.
We select and screen them very carefully, making sure that they are ready to host an exchange student. The participant’s detailed application will help to find a suitable host family, e.g. with the same or similar interests and hobbies. They all are looking forward to welcoming a new family member!
