With LGA to the Netherlands
The Netherlands is a country in the west of Europe. Together with some islands in the Caribbean, they belong to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The country is about the size of Switzerland but has twice as many inhabitants. It consists of twelve provinces. Amsterdam is the capital of the country. However, the Dutch government and parliament work in The Hague. Another large city in the country is Rotterdam, which has one of the largest ports in the world. In the Netherlands there are many kinds of cheese. The most famous is probably that of Gouda, a city in the province of North Holland. But what the Dutch really like is the "Stamppot", a mixture of potatoes and cabbage. It is accompanied by a smoked sausage.

We work with a very experienced partner organization in the Netherlands. The counselors of our partner are there for you and support you with words and deeds (host family, school, etc.) We receive regular reports from the Netherlands, which inform us about your well-being. During office hours we are always available for you and your parents - in case of emergency also via our 24-hour emergency number.
Schools
Schooling is a very important part of the high school program. Students attend a regular secondary school near the host family and are enrolled in a HAVO or VWO class depending on their age and level.
Host families
The host families in the Netherlands are very open and cordial. Of course, they are carefully selected and screened. The families come from different cultures and are happy to welcome you in their midst. You will share the daily life with them and have rights and responsibilities. A completely new lifestyle awaits you, which you will quickly get to know and love.
